Stock cut out for the motor but the boat has been modified

Splashwell has been removed

The 90hp motor is heavy enough that the motor cut out is too close to the water before the boat floats off the trailer, esp on steep ramps.

Absolutely fix the damaged scupper, otherwise its a hole to let water INTO the boat.

You mention that the boat takes on water at DOCKING, but you hadnt mentioned that before. Did you mean at launch?

Yep, 1way scuppers allow water out, and the rubber flapper keeps water from coming back in.

Motor well or splashwell is an area just in front of an outboard motor that allows a little water to splash into the boat and drain out thru 1 or more smallish drains.

The splashwell drain can just be seen in the lower left corner of the depressed area, glimpsed between the red and black cables on the left of the motor.

Backing in VERY slowly may allow boat to float off the trailer before water washes in.

Does water sometimes wash over the transom as you slow down and come off plane? Thats called a following sea and could easily swamp a small boat w no splashwell w a 90hp hanging off the back

Not sure that I have a splash well but I do have drain holes if water comes in the boat. However, the box to the hull of the boat is directly where water comes in therefore I have to run the pump located in the hull to empty any excess water.

Don't seem to notice water coming on after coming off plane. Only one time when I had three people standing with me in the back. I watch that.

From your pix, you dont have a splashwell, notice how close it is to the power head in the pix I posted...

The splashwell drains are above the water line at rest and while underway.

I think your last post is refering to a bilge, bilge drain and bilge pump. Those are as low in the boat as you can possibly get them, usually near the keel and tbe pump sits on the actual hull bottom. The bilge drain is where the boat plug goes, is underwater at rest and at or just above/below the water line while under way...
