Alright, here it goes! How many in here is guilty of leaving the shopping cart in the parking lot outside of a cart coral? I went to Walmart to grab some soap yesterday. I parked way out, went in for about 10 mins, came out and there was a shopping cart against my driver side door along with a scratch.  The cart coral was about 5 or 6 spaces away from my truck   Oh I was steamming...  How lazy and inconsiderate one have to be to do schitt like that?

This is why I dont park way off away from others in order to protect my truck. I like to use other cars as "blockers", I figure if three sides of your car are protected by other cars.......I am less likely to get hit by a car.

Same thing here, carts all over the place. I frequently see them right next to or behind the coral. People are inconsiderate and lazy.

I dont put it in the corral everytime but I make sure it can roll anywhere.

Also, dont forget this could have been done by a little old lady, or a mother juggling with kids, or someones older kid that did something crazy.

Ken

Here in the UK we have a system were the trollies (there called shopping trollies) are locked together, the only way to release them is with a £1.00 coin slotted into the lock, when you return the trolley and re lock it your coin is released.
People are still lazy and leave the trollies anywhere but the local kids make a fortune taking them back.

Re: My first rant!

That sounds like a great system, RPJS.

That cart (trolly) was probably the same one used by the person who changed her (his?) mind about the frozen corn and stuffed it in the fresh corn bin, got into the express lane with 185 items in the cart, tried a refused credit card five times, then wrote a check that the 'puter rejected before finally paying with 125lb. of coins. (Exaggerations for effect).

It would be easy to write it off as a sign of what sort of person shops at WM, but I have seen the same thing regularly at upscale markets.

One market I shop at does not allow patrons to leave the store with a cart. They have an army of teens who do nothing but load your cart at the check-out, take you and your cart to your vehicle, load your stuff in the vehicle, then return the cart to the store. They refuse tips, too.

Another good concept is to light a fire under the store mamagers a$$ and have him direct a system of utilizing store employees do pick the damn things up on a regular schedule.Worked for decades at the grocery stores.Seems everyone including the staff is lazy and inconsiderate.

On the bright side, don't feel left out.Our local Wal Mart parking lots are also an obstacle course full of carts. Not to mention dirty diapers and the like.

BTW,nice rant gonefishie. :D

Re: My first rant!

There is a store here, Aldi, that has the locked together thing going on.
It costs a quarter to get one and you have to hook it back up to get your quarter back.
I know, a quarter ain't much, but I ain't never seen any carts loose either.

A side note about the local WM, they do have an army of guys who's job it is, is to collect all carts. They even have one of them motorized cart thingys now. It looks like a shopping cart on steroids that they use to coral all the other carts. They don't have to use a rope to pull them now.

Re: My first rant!

I work hard for the stuff I have and for that reason I have a special little truck 94' bronco for just such trips. Your rant is justified. I also love the jerks who park in two spaces cuz their new vehicle is so precious they can't take the time to park it in the back of the lot where there is lots of room. The arrogance is unbelievable.

I know what you are feeling and it sucks. I always take the time to move the carts to the corral. I also look for parking closest to the corrals as that makes it easier to return it. Closest to the door is meaningless to me. But I hate shopping so much that I only go once in a while and buy tons at a time to prevent premature return visits.

Kick butt rant. I think we can all appreciate it.

A good rant! I can not think of a good reason not to return the cart....
Pointer, I agree!....
I will usually go out of my way to park as close as possible to someone who does that! If it is so precious, park it in the back 40!.....JK

That would be great if our K-mart actually had something I wanted. Our K-mart is pathetic. I havnt even been there in over a year, and the last time I was there, the store manager ask me if he could help me and I told him that and said that there was no reason for me to ever come back into the store and I havnt.

As much as I dont care too much for Wally world either, I shop early or late and avoid the crowds.

Re: My first rant!

Well at least I don't feel left out as the only one experiencing this phenomenom. Same thing here about Kmart too LD, it's several steps below wallyworld. The best way to find out who are the guilty ones is to have a coin deposited cart system like Aldi and the ones complaining are the ones that leave cart where they don't belong. Hello? wallyworld executives?

I always park right next to the cart corral. There is no danger of a stray cart as no one ever gets a cart close to the cart corral. :D :D

Re: My first rant!

Tell the manager of Wal-mart that he is responsable. Just because they have a sign up that says they are not responsible for damage to vehicles, they are when it is their carts that do the damage!
If it was a door prize from a nearby parker you would be on your own.

We have the same system here with one of our grocery stores NO FRILLS , but it costs a quarter to unlock them . You be surprised at how many people will forgo getting that quarter back and leave the cart in the parking area . I saw two young lads hanging around there the other day and they was watching for carts left in the lot , returning them and getting a quarter for each one returned , Pretty clever lads :D
