Hey Everyone

This is my first boat. I just got a 1990 38' Sunseeker Martinique. It's got 2 Mercruiser engines.

My main problem is that when I turn the key to the start position, it make a LOUD buzzing sound. Even after when both engines turn on, the loud buzzing sound stays on. It's as loud as when I rev the engine. When I out it on neutral, the buzzing definitely is louder than both the engines on together even with the cover open.

What is this "Buzzing" sound for and how can I stop it?

Thanks so much everyone!!

I purchased a used boat, same problem. In my case it was a "short" in the engine over heat buzzer in the control box.

An alarm maybe did you check your fluids and how is the temp
Yeah, definitely good advice. Check everything! If that's a legitimate alarm, you may do serious damage if you continue to run those engines. Check all fluids. Engine, outdrives...everything. Check temperature, oil pressure etc. That thing may be buzzing for a reason. Sometimes they do give false alarms if they are faulty or the wiring is messed up, but be very cautious, it very well could be a REAL problem. And if you ignore it, it could cost you thousands.

Thanks so much guys!

I spoke with the seller and he says that the alarm should be the drive fluid, which was empty. I'm going to put some in today and see if the alarm goes away.

New issue:
My boat doesn't seem to be able to receive "Dock Power". The yellow cord when plugged in to the back, I still can't turn on the AC powered devices. Any suggestions on where to locate this and resolve it? Can it be just a loose wire or maybe a fuse?

Thanks again everyone
