As long as it's not being overloaded Johnsons are pretty tough.Just don't let them sit idle out of use for too long or gummy carb restrictions can build up and cause them to surge and sputter.Carb restrictions also starve them of cylinder lubrication and can lead to cylinder wall scoring or worse.

I remember this post....guy has a Johnson with a drip and the girl friend is mad cause she ain't sure if the drip is good or bad but now it don't matter cause the girlfreind left with the dripping Johnson. Guy finds another Johnson in disguise as an Evinrude with no drips and is now happy. Good....I like a happy ending.

almost right OBJ, I was worried about the drip so I was playing with the johnson without her knowlege. she would have had a fit if she caught me. She was mean, and hard on the johnson and would never take it out of service to do a little preventive TLC so I had to sneak around with the johnson at night. I am not afraid to admit it. My name is Stan and I am a recovering victim of johnson abuse! <br />Let the healing begin.<br />Well you got the happy ending right.
