Looks like a nice project. Also looks like it came equipped with lots of tasty fishing gear :)

Yes it has some nice gear. It had 3 fishfinders, which by now have made their way to new owners, since none of them can hold a light to my Furuno 582. The big Jon down riggers will be worked on and turned into power planer board masts for my Otter Boats, and my Cannons will go onto the rigger board. rod storage will move from the gunwales to overhead (room for 12 rods). The rest will be in the cuddy
As for the the chairs,I am torn between the pedestal chairs and swivel chairs on boxes. The pedestals are nice, but the boxes will give me room for 2 150 quart coolers which will be used for fish, beer and food. But more important,300 quarts is 10 cubic feet and when properly installed that will give me 600 pounds of upward flotation force. Not that I am planning to do crazy things, but Lake Ontario has a harsh way of punishing stupidity.
I hope to seal the floors and have a drain hole. No water will reach the foam from above, this makes it possible to use a wash down hose. At the same time this Islander will have 2 bilge pumps, one automatic 750 GPH and one regular 1200 GPH wired through the dash board.
This baby may never be beautiful, but it will be very safe and a very effective fishing machine.

Nice one rolmops. The transom was just about all gone. I like the extra gear so you could outfit the other boats. That makes it a project and donor all rolled into one. :D

Today I turned a page.Instead of ripping stuff out,I installed the new transom, but before installing it,I took 2 6 by 12 pieces of aluminum and slathered them with M5200.I put those at the bottom of the transom where all the holes were drilled over the years to attach the various transducers and whatever else .Now the aluminum no longer looks like a Swiss cheese. If the weather is benevolent the flotation foam and the floor will be in by the weekend and I can start getting the engine back in.
With a bit of luck, she will go through her test runs by early May

Ok, some delays here mostly work related. It did give me some time to think about the flotation foam. Obviously, pouring the foam is the most effective and most expensive way to go,but then I did some thinking and ended up wondering whether the foam is gonna do any good at all. The boat boat weighs in at about 2500 pound give or take a hundred or two. Is it in any way possible to pour in enough foam so this boat will stay afloat, or will the boat sink with or without the foam?

Foam talk is a touchy subject around here but I'll quick say this:

Yes, you want flotation. Definitely.

Pour in foam is expensive and does not drain properly.

Pink/blue foam board or pool noodles are common practice around here.

You can get creative about where you stuff flotation to get more in.
