Re: My pick-ups got the wiggles...
almost there spot, hang in there...... and yep, square one .
now a little more diagnosis on your part, vacuum for the valve is computer controlled via a control solenoid, should be mounted on a steel plate - pass. side of engine, top of intake manifold. if you'll follow the vacuum hose from the egr valve, you should end up at this solenoid.
check to see both hoses are connected and the electric is also.
is everything is connected, you need to start the engine, remove the hose going to the throttle body assy. and see if you have vacuum in that hose. if answer is no, the gasket under the throttle body unit is broken and blocking the vacuum port. if answer is yes, try to remove other hose from solenoid and connect directly to hose from throttle body assy. this will open the egr valve and stall the engine. if engine will stall, vacuum is adequate to open valve, and solenoid is bad or your computer is not performing correctly, this could be the computer itself, or a bad ground wire connection on the engine.
i would check all wires that are attached to engine for ground purposes to make sure good connections, if all are ok, then i'd replace the solenoid, cheapest.
honestly, my past experience, i've seen alot of the solenoids go bad, but also lots of tbi gasket damage as well.
do you inspection and let us know what you found ........
dolluper, jump in here anytime if i'm missing something ...... this fella needs to go fishin ....
