Re: my starter wines

turns out the starter was fine all along and I had Hydro-lock, so I pulled the plugs and turned the fly wheel to get all the water out soaked the cylinders with two and a half cans of pb blaster put my stater back on turned the key and it cranked I turned it to off and waited a minute and turned the key again and the starter could not turn the flywheel again this is with the plugs removed. I am tottlay frustrated and have to tow the boat to a ramp if I cant figure this POS out.

I'm really sorry to hear that! Do you think this is the same problem that originally caused you to post, or has something else gone wrong since? Seems unlikely that on that first night, you started your boat up fine a few times and then suddenly had hydro-lock? Whatever you have going on is beyond my limited mechanical abilities...

You might want to start a new thread just for the hydro-lock to see if anyone here can help?

Either way, good luck!

if you have hydro locked your motor, and tried to crank it while the water is in there you would could have done a huge amount of damage. it is possible that some of your valves are bent preventing your motor from turning. others will chime in here, but you may have other problems.

can you rotate the motor with a breaker bar, with the plugs out? what does the oil look like?
