My Suzuki has quit using oil!!!!!

I need help guys! My Suzuki, a 86 40hp oil injected used a good deal of oil which I thought was normal. I moved the motor to a new boat and the dealer just discarded the oil level indicater and advised me to just check the oil visually. I have run the motor and it runs great on the new boat. Just doesn't use oil. I am worried that it may not use enough. Don't want to ruin the engine. I also have noticed a different sound in the motor. Any ideas???? CAn I put injector cleaner in the oil or gas to help get it flowing again?

Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />No! Add nothing. You might add something that prevents the oil from sticking to the surfaces. Until you determine if it is or isn't using oil, premix your gas at 50:1. Mark the tank and look for movement. If it doesn't move, you need to take it back and have them correct the situation. Remember, at 50:1 it'll take awhile to lower that oil level in the oil tank.

Until this is resolved, you would be advised to add oil to your fuel (pre-mis). It will smoke more but at least you know it is getting lubrication.

wat makes you think the moter is making a diffrent noise ???can you describ the noise is it on top or lower down loose or tight sounding ??

an oil consumption test as per the service manual is always nice,<br /> also you have to clean the tank and filter periodically.<br /> but while testing it will be advisable to run 50/1 premix.

The noise is when I shift into gear. I can only hear it while I test because I don't have anyone to shift it and allow me to listen. Did not make the noise before.
