Paint the house.<br />It is possible to take care of the boat later. When (if) your wife leave you you'll have plenty of time for the boat (and the lads and the pub and...).<br /><br />Been there, done that, didn't paint the house.<br /> :D <br /><br />/Bear

Re: My wife !

Paint the house, but pull the boat up near it so it gets some drips on it. Now since the boat's messed up because of the paint, you'll need to take care of it right away before it gets any worse!!!!<br /><br />At least in theory....<br /><br />Cheers :) <br />Nav.

Re: My wife !

This is a tough one. How many years you been married? This idea might work if you've been married for a long time: Explain to her that the benefits she would reap if you paint your boat. For example: 1) you'll get out of the house more to use your freshly painted boat (more time for her and the boyfriend to see each other. 2) you'll be away from the T.V. and out of the lazy boy during the weekend fishing shows and football games (this would enable her to watch her favorite cooking shows). 3) It's cheaper to paint your boat. 4) Promise her you'll use your beer money and have the house professionally done at a later date (of course, you have no intention of keeping that promise). 5) Tell her you're thinking about covering the wood with siding and that it would be a waist of time to paint (you'll let her know in a couple of months - in the mean time go ahead and paint the boat). 6) Keep her away from the news and newspaper - and tell her that rain or snow has been forecasted (you only have to do this for about a month, because eventually she forget). 7) Get on her good side - get her a gift and take her out to dinner. 8) If all else fails tell her you're thinking of selling the house and the new owners may like the rustic look! :D :D :D

Re: My wife !

Was gonna post this morning but I figured I would wait to see what other's said first.<br />Sell the house and the boat and buy a houseboat that don't need painting. Use the saved money from no paint to send her shopping and go fishing.<br />"Women are fine, but fish are easier to catch." Hmm, you get the fish off the hook and they run. Women stick the hook in you.

Re: My wife !

Well This is what I would do, Tell her that the house paint is a summer project (the moisture content in the wood is too high in the winter and the lower temps are not ideal paint conditions) This is a true story, and you wouldnt want flaking paint would you?<br /><br />Next, do another project that she has been waiting on as a compromise, but do it as a surprise, then take her out, or do something special that makes her feel special.<br /><br />After the dust settles, she will probably suggest that this winter would be a good time to paint the boat, since you will be busy with the house in the summer, or you could causually mention it, but I would bet that she would bring it up first. Good Luck

Re: My wife !

Philby my friend,<br />Here's how that works.<br />Tell her you'll paint the house. Paint the front of the house now, then paint the boat. Next year paint side nr. one. Next year paint back of house. Next year paint side nr. two. Next year paint front again. Ya see, you can only see one side of the house at a time. You can see all of the boat all the time. Explain to her the company only see's the front anyway.<br />Lemme know how you make out.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />hooty

Howdy, Philby. I agree with Schematic. Keep Momma happy and life is much nicer.<br /><br />Suppose you put no-maintenance aluminium or vinyl siding on the house and paint the boat?<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

Re: My wife !

Why is that everytime your wife wants some thing done around the house, she would ask her husband to do it. Do you ask your wife to buy you beer at the store ? No !!!! So next time if your wife ask you to paint the house, you would say paint it yourself. Till death do us part has nothing to do with painting the house. Stand up for yourself, and say no !!!!! Do it, Noooo!!!!!! Now that is not so hard is it ?

Philby, you need to be reminded of how fortunate you are. <br /><br />We like to make jokes about how demanding and unappreciative wives can be.<br /><br />Imagine for a few minutes that you lost her<br /><br />....<br /><br />....<br /><br />then got her back.<br /><br />Some of us didn't.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

Re: My wife !

TRUE STORY HERE!!!!! Wife nagged me to death about painting the house. Finally ran out of excuses and began painting. Finished the first side, finished the front, finished the other side. Found out the wife had a boyfriend and wanted me OUT!!! Boyfriend moved in, they got married. Now seven years later the back of the house STILL hasn't been painted. Glad I don't have to hear about it anymore, it's not my problem!!!! :D :D :D
