Trailbum:

Heckuva story. I presume he didn't get the boat, too. Right? ;-)

This thread reminds me of the old bumper sticker: "My wife told me if I go fishing one more time, she's going to leave. God, I'll miss her!"

Hi BayStLouis,
Yeah, it was a real BUMMER at the time, but I can laugh about it now. Fortunately, I didn't have a boat back then. Heck... she wouldn't even let me buy the secondhand canoe I wanted. I feel like I've been paroled!!! :D :D :D :D

Re: My wife !

I had to sell my boat that I loved when I got divorced from my first wife.

Geez I miss that boat!!! :D

Believe it or not, I painted the house and the boat that year! Moral of the story is, the house or the boat have nothing to do with it, I would have rather been outside painting the house than inside with her. And it was summer in Florida! That kinda says it all.

Got a good one this time though, she loves boating and fishing as much as I do!!

Re: My wife !

I'm thinkin that the paint brush will fit in a womans hand also. If she wants the house painted, let her do it.

Recalls a time my wife went out and bought a swing set for our boy. She happened to buy it on a day that I was going to the river all night to fish for flatheads. My buddy still gives me a hard time about my wife standing out in the yard putting the swing set together as we drove off with a cold beer in our hand. Maybe I am just lucky.

There is another way to to things - together.
Paint the house together.
Take care of the boat together.
Take a brake and make lunch together.
Have a beer together.
Have fun together and do not so fun things together too.

J.B, sometimes I think of what you wrote. I hope it wasn't from personal experience. I think we all got the message loud and clear. At least I did.

Regards
Bear

Re: My wife !

I like your post, Bear.

Unfortunately, it was my personal experience to let my wife go. . . By the time I woke up and realized what I had given up, she was married to someone else. After more than 20 years, she inhabits my dreams as though she were still beside me.

Count your blessings, fellows. It may be popular to talk like a jerk about your wife, just don't think like one.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

JB...I don't talk about my wife like a jerk. I love and cherish her. :)

Unfortunately she is not the mother of my children. It is possible to marry the WRONG woman. I live your advice every day now that I have found the right one.

I am sorry for your loss.

Bear, I'm with you for the most part...

but paint the house together ?????

My wife and paint just don't mix. She painted the lounge walls, doors, radiators, sockets, light switches, carpets curtains and one of our children !!!!

Never again !

Next thing I know I am basking in my male superiority and showing he how it should be done on the remaining rooms.

Have I been had ?

Re: My wife !

Yes Philby... You been HAD!!!! My second wife uses that tactic. When she finally gets tired of asking me to do something, she'll start on it herself. I always jump right in and take over the job to make sure it's done right. It works for her every time!!!! I CAN'T complain about her though, she hasn't said a word about the three outboards (1 in pieces) residing in the basement. She's a KEEPER!!!!

Re: My wife !

A wife is a precious thing.
For the love she will give without even asking for any in return.
For the support she will give without asking for any in return.
For the company and committment she will devote to you and the children.
For the friendship she will give to you in the dark hours.
For the understanding to let you make mistakes.
For the sincere way she'll listen to your stories even when she thinks you're wrong!
But mostly for being there all the time, and asking only that you trust her, love her, and be honset with her.
Each day I kiss my partner as if we've just met, I feel like the luckiest person alive. She loves me and I will never do anything to ruin that trust and friendship. You see My wife is not only my wife, she's my best friend as well.
Whats even better is that I know she feels the same about me.
Not bad after 25 years...............
Ross

Re: My wife !

happily married for 15+yrs, and there's a sign
hangin in my kitchen that says; "if mamma ain't
happy, ain't noboday happy".
as JB suggested, vinyl siding & AL trim.
never have to paint again! but then they'll find
something else that needs tending....
better go now, promised I'd touch up the kitchen
while she was gone with the kids
