It is very hard to find a mechanic that actually knows anything here. Since it is an older outboard, a lot of them wont even touch it.

I have the carbs apart and will start with cleaning, also I am replacing the coil, and all plug wires. Once the carbs are back I will link&sync according to my manual.

If the problem still persists, I going to most likely give up and accept my losses.

OK, I am going to through some thing out there. I have owned many V-4's that where built during the late 60's and early 70's. The 1969 -1971 V-4's came with adjustable idle jets and they like to move. I had a 115 and a 125 which started to drop #3 and found out it was due to an over rich problem on the idle system. Mainly the idle needle backed out causing the over rich condition. Reset all needles to 1 turn out and problem went away. The nylon lock nuts loosen up over time, allowing the idle needles to move, causing a over rich condiction even at WOT. Just my .03 worth.

I think this is spot on my friend, as I just took my carb apart one of the seating's for the slow speed needle is completely dissolved!

As this is no longer a cylinder problem, yet a carb issue I have created new thread.

What did I tell you back at the very beginning Sander, back in the main forum on your "What to do if you get stuck on the water" thread?

I'll agree, good mechanics are very hard to find... but when you do find one he'll be worth his weight in gold some times.

I hope you get this motor fixed up and it runs real good for you, it sounds like you're on your way to a solution.

PROBLEM SOLVED :

After removing and cleaning both carbs, I found the slow speed needle seating's where deteriorated. Using the new RED seating's with proper needle adjustments the motor runs and idles fine. Cylinder #3 woke up and works great.

Cause of the problem as followed : The bad needles seating were causing an over rich condition and possibly flooding cylinder #3. I hope this will help someone in the future.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS. AND A SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO 194269 FOR BEING SPOT ON.
