This motor is problematic, I put new condensers, fixed plug wires, cleaned the carb, new plugs, it has new coils and points. Points at .020, plugs at .030.

It refuses to start unless in gear with the throttle wide open, still the same poor performance won't rev very high even in a barrel. I am beginning to think this motor has me beat.

Not to mention spitting and sputtering when it does run.

Oh and it has a new gas tank and fuel line that was put on it last year, I am running out of options.

It sounds like the carb needs a rebuild. It's not getting gas through the low speed circuit. If the carb has been gone through, then something needs to be re-checked.

So I have been fighting this thing the whole time and there is a hole in the engine case, not what I was expecting. Found the problem and the solution looks to be parting it out to break even on its purchase.

Oh well try again.

It is the piece on the back side of the starter, I never realized there was another bolt holding it on when I pulled the carb off the first time since I pulled 3 bolts and it fell off. It is behind the starter and up under the fly wheel, jb welded it back on hoping to make it a pull start only but it is still having issues staying running so it looks to me like its fate is sealed. If anyone needs any parts for one of these let me know it still has a decent lower unit with a new impeller, two new coils, new points, good starter, can't promise the carb is perfect since it has never ran correctly, flywheel and gear are in good shape, cover is in decent shape with no major flaws it does need paint and decals though.
