Has the typical " broken shift handle "------Have seen many different fixes for that.----Having a shop do a factory replacement is a shocking expense !
Yes, someone attached a square steel piece to it, I think I will augment it a bit, extend it forward to make it easier to use.

I found the screw... and spring. I unscrewed it as it didn't seem to want to screw in, little lube and we have friction! I'm thinking maybe the fuel pump should be rebuilt. Starts right up, seems to want to warm up, and as I take off sometimes it quits, starts right back up and then runs just fine. Also the hi/lo adjustment doesn't seem to make any difference if you turn it in or out(?) But it runs great, this is really the perfect size engine for the pond.
