Mystery water in oil

I have a 1984 Mercruiser 5.7/350 re-powered last year. Ran perfect after full season with re-power last year.

Just pulled out of winter storage and drained oil and had couple quarts of water/antifreeze in oil. Interestingly water was totally separate from oil (no brown foam or mush which I had when engine went before) It was clear water had not been run through engine.

Replaced oil and started right up and runs perfect. Plugs are not wet and no water in oil. No signs of crack or water from block.

The only thing I can think of is when I winterized and filled with antifreeze it went through riser and into engine. I remember questioning why it took to much antifreeze. I do remember pouring antifreeze in hose that runs to riser. Does anyone know if that is possible?

It's my understanding that if you pour antifreeze into the wrong hose that it can back flow into the cylinders and drain down into the pan. Which dose did you use? I think the correct hose is the larger, lower hose at the t stat housing.

Hopefully you are no worse for wear..before winter this year just drain it..leave block and manifold empty of water...Air don't freeze..and you don't get air in your engine oil pan too
