GA Boater said that it was just something the old owner fabbed up for a transducer mount. Seems like over kill to me. I was thinking it was for dropping mini depth charges to help bring up the fish.

Ok, my motor does not have a tilt tube. I have one of these brackets I dug up but it does not clamp down tight on the cable I think I need some form of tube to clamp to and the cable to thread into. that make any sense?

Rayzor if the clamp is to big you can take a aluminun post cut it length wise and put it on the cable end, then clamp it all down tight Should work. Are you sure you tried mounting the cable connector correctly? Pugetsound

Re: Need a few things answered about my SS 16

So I think I have a handle on the steering situation. It may change though as I am thinking about getting a 50 hp in place of the giant 1967 80 hp. I did pick up some used back to back seats yesterday for free so thats a bonus. My next major plan of action is figuring out what kind of paneling to close up the sides. Any suggestions? Here are the seats, I will at some point get them recovered. Just trying to get the boat ready to fish this season first.0127121507.jpg

Rayzor, free is always the right price. The seats appear to be good shape, too. I haven't seen much discussion on side panel material. I'm thinking it's about 3/8 ply maybe.
