If you don't get a quick answer, google NAMS and SAMS to find a certified surveyor near you.

Good luck, Nhi! I think we all feel like we've been shopping right along with you!

Thanks John.

I know I write a lot, ask bunch of questions, sometime repeat myself. But I'm just vocal like that. :). I want to layout everything, trying to paint a picture so hopefully anyone interesting can read and follow along by buying process :).

I know shopping is addictive, especially toys related. So the more you shop with other people money, the less you do with your own. Hahaha. And potential buyers like me also benefit the advices/inputs when lots of people chime in. Win-win situation, right? Cool.

I called them @ 5pm today, they closed @ 4. :) Will call them again tomorrow. Do you know them from personal experience? Are they trust worthy? Good?

Thanks

Do anyone of you know about people @ River City Surveys?

I had a deal with them to come check out my 280. They was gonna call seller to set up time & date, then let me know so I can be there too (I'm almost 3 hrs away). After exactly 3 emails, 2 voice mails, 6 more calls with no answers, since Wednesday. They said they can be out next Tuesday, and it's now Friday without an appointment yet. :(

I really want to get a survey done to be over with. This boat buying is fun, but it's time consuming. :)

I know I can just call someone else, but I'm a "faithful" guy. Hahaha. I'd like to give them all the chances first (email, calls, voicemail, AND time). So not sure what's going with them.

Getting any surveyor "quick" is not the way they work. Most already have appointments booked ahead of time, and you have to take the next available time slot.
It will happen, but it's not like buying donuts.

In my few occaissions with searching for and selecting surveyors, I have found that some of them are at the center of the universe and others will be more accomodating to your needs. Your time is better spent to keep looking for a surveyor that is responsive and available.

Re: Need a marine surveyor recommendation quick ...

I got a different certified marine mechanic to come out next Tuesday. He said he knows boat for more than 20 yrs and he can inspect the hull too. But he's not a certified surveyor.

I also talked to a certified surveyor who also said he's done thousands of boats, more than 20 years experience. He's not a mechanic but said he can also run the engine and knows pretty much if the engine works.

Hahaha. So talented, both of them.

I talked to my current insurance broker (for my auto & home insurance) about the boat insurance. She said a survey is not needed, kinda questioning that. What coverage should be minimum on a boat insurance?

I was thinking to just have the mechanic guy check out the engine and the boat in general. Boat is on trailer/storage for the last 8 years. Looks so clean and shinny :) from outside. What you guys think? Or should I get both of them?

Thank you.

Well, I don't need it quick. But their email reply to me was "we can do it next Tuesday instead of this Thursday, please confirm if we should proceed" after AGREEING on Thursday.

So I sent 1st email saying "yes sure, please go ahead and schedule, then confirm the schedule with me". They said they have to contact the seller directly to make a schedule. They never did.

I sent them 2 more emails, both directly & through their website's service request form. I called about 10 times, the seller helped calling too. :) Left 3 voice mails. When I call, I tried different times just to make sure I can get them: 1st thing in the morning @ 9:05-9:10 (open @ 9), lunch, after lunch, before closing time, mid morning, mid afternoon. Hahaha. Pretty bad.
