I ran across a boat while on vacation that I am seriously considering as a replacement for my 69 thunderbird trihull. My thunderbird has a rotten transom and some stringer rot at the transom. Both are outboards and my 78 175hp blckmax is in good shape. The boat is a 81 Regal Regency 21 FF. The engine on it is a 225 hp Yamaha, but it has a rod through the block. My engine should be a good replacement for it. Would the Regal be a practical boat in freshwater lakes (30,000 acres) for fishing and occasional sking and joy riding. The boat is in Florida on a EZ Load aluminum trailer which comes with it. The price seems good (less than a $1,000, still negotiating) and the boat looks good. Needs a lot of cleanup.

As long as the boat is solid, it would be more than acceptable for what you want.

At $1000, I would be wary of the floor and transom as the trailer should cost that much. Check wiring, steering as well.
