Hello this is my first post. I have been on here stocking for a while and I just recently purchased an old Starcraft islander that I am restoring. I have an opportunity to get a 1999 evenrude ocean pro 175 for pretty cheap. Well I will be trading boats with the guy, so I would get his boat and salvage anything I can, trade trailers and then send it on my other trailer for free. I guess I want to know if the motor is a reliable motor. I know they had problems but I am thinking that being this old if it was a lemon it would have been done by now. Anyways I need some help deciding.

If the motor is a carb model it's a good motor, if it's a FICHT motor free is to much for it.

Alright that's what I was thinking, it's just a great deal and would get me almost everything I need to complete my project. But it's not worth the headache and the money to just throw it away into a worthless motor. Thanks for the help
