I am still looking at boats to replace my 69 17' Thunderbird cathedral hull boat. I want to go larger because of my 175 HP engine that I will be using. The ones that I am finding are from 20 to 22 ft long. Will there be that much difference in the launching, loading, and operation of these size boats versus my 17'. I have narrowed the search to the following outboard boats:

1. 79 Invader 20' deep V bow rider.
2. 79 Cobia 22' Cuddy set up for fishing.
3. 81 Wellcraft 20' V-20 steplift cuddy set up for fishing.
The cobia and wellcraft are both 8' wide. My thunderbird is 7' wide, I am not sure about the Invader.

I would appreciate any advice that any of you could give me.

Re: need advice

i went from 3 person jetskis to a 16' boat. then to a 19' boat. i didn't notice much difference in load or launch. but i did for trailering... the load is longer and harder to maneuver in tight spaces. larger is heavier. + takes more space to store.
