Hi Guys,

I have a 1959 Johnson Seahorse 18HP.
It has been running like , well lets say not good.
I saw I had gas coming out of the air intake on the carb itself, Does this indicate bad valves????

Thanks

Itec.... No, it indicates that your carburetor requires removing, cleaning, and rebuilding.

Joe,
Thanks I have had that carb off 3 times cleaned the jets cleaned parts off made sure all openings were open. Is there something specific I need to look at?
It's got a new float, seat and needle.

Yes a needle/seat valve.

Either they need replacing as a pair, a piece of scwaller is caught up in there, or there is for some reason, the float not coming up and closing off the flow.

Re: Need Carb Help

Itec..... Either you've got a faulty (new) float needle valve and seat, or the float level is set wrong. Holding the carburetor upside down and viewing the float, the float should be ever so slightly off level. That is the float, when viewed from the side, should be slightly higher on the end opposite the hinge pin. When viewed straight on, it should be an even height on both sides (edge of float to carb body).
