Wondering if anyone could give me a recommendation to buy carpet for my boat and also what I should use to put it in? I have a fiberglass floor, so it will be carpet to fiberglass.

Get marine carpet. You can use Dap Weldwood for adhesive. It is a little tricky to work with but strong and will last.

Thank you for the glue tip, I will have to get some of that. I was planning on getting marine carpet, any suggestions for where to get it? Just trying to find a best price place. Just looking for a gray.

Re: Need carpet and glue

When I recarpeted my boat, I just bought indoor/outdoor carpeting from Lowes. They had plenty of it in stock and the price was right.

Boat Cleanup 008 (Resized).jpg I have the carpet not just on my deck but running up halfway up the doghouse and rear seat structure. I glued mine with spray adhesive. You sprayed both surfaces and waited for it to tack, then put them together. It's been a very strong bond thus far.

Use the outdoor carpet adhesive avail at Lowe's as well. Spread with a notched trowel. Whereas I like Jay's approach, I have never had much luck with the spray adhesives. Hope it works for him as it is a lot less messy.

www.Corinthian Marine Carpet
Go to the site a browse around. They have some nice stuff. I just got my swim platform carpet Friday. Regaurdless of where you get it If you skimp on price your only going to be redoing it in a few years
You can get free samples and see what you like. I wouldn't glue carpet if i could get away with it. Do a snap in. The prices (sq ft) for the carpet is also listed under the pictures

It worked fine. I replaced the carpet in the winter of 2012. The picture I posted was from late last fall when I winterized the boat.

Thank you for the information from everybody. I appreciate it. I am excited to get the carpet and vinyl in when I get this 60 degree weather back.

FWIW - I used spray and indoor/outdoor padless carpet from menards when I redid the old Bayliner we had. Sprayed both the carpet and deck.
