I'm buying a used boat, either a 21' Cruisers Inc. or a Formula F23. Both are cuddies, Cruiser has a Mercruiser 165 and F23 has a Mercruiser 260hp. I will be using it along the New England coast, Florida coast and midwest lakes. I like the 6 cylinder for economy, but the F23 would handle waves better. Anyone have experience with these, or just an opinion let me know!

bigger is better for comfort in any kinda chop. fuel economy be damned when you and the family are getting beat up. plus you can never have enough room. i bought a 23' which i love, but i think maybe a 27' would have been better. my friend with 3 kids bought a 27' and wishes he got a 30'. and of course with the merc 260 HP you can say you got a chevy 350 under you!

What year is the Cruisers? If it is later than 1981 that 165hp motor is 4 cylinder (470) that is not very desireable. It is is pre-1981 it is probably the Chevy straight 6...a great motor. Either way 165 HP on a 21' boat sounds a bit underpowered. I would go with the Formula.

Thanks for your input, the 23' Formula is what I'll get. Sometimes you forget how hard you get beat up in a smaller boat. Thanks
