Thumpar, Slalom skiing and wakeboarding are different sports. Slalom skiers want flat wakes, and 34+MPH pulls. Wakeboarders want large wakes and a much slower speed.

The smaller surface area of the slalom ski plus the high speed needed, demand a lot of power
My point was more that with a small boat is it easy for the person being towed to have an effect on the boats position.

I think thats good advice, maybe I will wait a bit longer and see what else is out there.
Frankly - you should be able to find something in pretty good shape between $3k and $5k if you're patient. If you're particularly serious about skiing (as opposed to tubing, wake boarding, or knee-boarding), then a dedicated ski boat would be great if you can find one.

If skiing is #2 behind cruising with friends, you will do just fine with most bow-rider type boats as long as you have enough power. A 16' with a 100HP or 150HP might be a fine rig for what you want to do, though you may like a 20' i/o with a V8 for the extra room.

Have you rented anything to try out?
