Need help finding parts for a 79 Jrude 25hp.

I just picked up a little engine that I wanna use as a kicker for my boat.The model is 25953R. One thing that I don't like is the "shift lock".It's got alot of rust on the bottom end that sticks out from underneath. I would like to replace with with another one.<br />The part number I got from Rude is 0322233. I found it for 65.00. Is there some place where I can pick up parts for these old engines and good prices?<br />TIA!!

I just checked that part number and price as I was sure you were in error. Whew... Outrageous! I'm sure someone will jump in here with some 3rd party advice.

Find some spray paint that matches pretty close at the hardware store for $3. Wire brush the shifter lock, mask everything around it, and paint it. Only you will notice it's slightly "different" and you'll think of the $65 + shipping you saved every time you see it and smile. A brand new one would be slightly "different" too.

spray paint. the new one is going to rust also. you are running in salt water, correct.

That's the problem. the old one is pretty rusted. IF not.... I would of sprayed it. Yeah...salt.
