I got this motor today and I am trying to find information on it, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Under the Cowl there is a little black plaque with this on it.

Sea King 35 Hp
Montgomery Ward
Model VWB27235-27X
Serial 20557

I tried googling it and can not come up with much except for a lot of Ebay postings

Thanks in advance
Chris

Re: Need help identifying motor

1972, made by Chrysler.

FYI, as a part of the first government bailout of Chrysler, the outboard division was sold to US Marine (Bayliner Boats), and renamed Force motors. Later, it was sold again to Mercury, still called Force. Then Mercury dumped it. No longer made.

Appreciate it, thank you very much.

By any chance do you or anyone know where I can find a repair manual for the motor?

Thanks

Hi Chris....

I'm envious; I always liked that vintage of Chrysler stuff. Your best bet would be to post in the Chrylser forum here. There's a guy there named Frank Acampora. He and a lot of others can tell you anything you want to know about your motor and steer you to the correct manual.

First off...find out what model Chrysler your engine equates to; searching for a manual will be easy then.

Got a picture of it?

Yep! Any Chrysler manual will do BUT---If you go over to The Chrysler Crew and contact Dave (Hurrikain) Kain or dave@hurrikain, he has all sorts of literature and manuals. He may have your specific repair manual.

Re: Need help identifying motor

I want to say thank you to everyone's responses, I will haed over to the Chrysler forum shortly.

I don't have any pics at the moment but I'm might possibly later today.

HereKs the story on the motor, I saw the ad for a little jet boat on Craigslistfor $600 with motor and the guys said t didn't run. So I messaged him and asked how much for just the motor since I already had the boat. He told me $100, then he emailed me back and said he would take $75. So I went to pick it up. So I took it to a friends garage so I could look at it, took the starter of dissaembled it sanded the contacts and cleaned it. Then took of the flywheel andcleanded the points and all the good stuff threw it back together and BOOM started right up and ran pretty darn good.

$75 buck.
