haven't done spark test yet. waiting on delivery of the tester. how do I test spark when it happens on the water? the tester I'm getting is an inline tester with adjustable gap.

really want an open air tester (for future use if the shop checked spark). You can use a timing gun to check spark when underway -- adjust so you can see it, or get a helper to drive the boat. No flash mean no spark.

it was checked with a timing gun. I have found a workaround for the problem. If I bring the prop slightly out of the water and then bring it up to 4500 RPM then trim down right away it works every time. It skips right over that mid RPM bogging situation

YOu can rebuild the carbs. I never did anything like that and did it on my 20 evinrude. THe guy who said squeeze the bulb is right. If you get the boat going at high rpm a bad fuel system with a leak somewhere will compensate but as soon as the fuel pump is not pushing hard you can lose your prime. With mine it was after running and then stopping to fish I could not start it without repriming. Found the leak at the carb, rebuilt the fuel pump and carb. easy take pictures, check out youtube.
