greetings,
Let me start by stating I am an outboard newbie, and not exactly mechanically inclined.

I just purchased a used 4.5hp-believe its an 82.
Its sat for a few months but was in good working condition in the past (So says the former owner)

I dont have a manual for it. So I tried starting it today and got it to turn over and run for a few then it would just die. Dont know if I'm doing something wrong or the engine needs help. There is and adjustment on the end of the throttle the says idle speed and its adjustable (I have no clue what thats for) I began by putting the throttle to the start position, shifted the engine to what i believe was nuetral pulled out the choke, and pulled the cord after it started up I pushed the choke back in. Like I said it would run for a few then die-Is my starting procedure wrong? I had the mixture setting in the middle of lean and rich (Dont have a clue what that means) After some frustration I primed the bulb attached to the gas till it felt like it was full and could'nt get the engine to even kick over. I'm so lost its not even funny. I know I should buy the manual but right knows its not feasable ANY and All help will be greatly appreciated. Jetty
