Need Help on Inboard/Outboard parts list

I've scoured the net as best I can and simply can't find the answers I'm looking for. This seems like the next logical step. I've come into possession of a Hull of a 1995 Sea Sprite which had been preped to be painted and have the flooring redone. Unfortunately the engine and all its components have been pulled and I did not receive those items. I would like to find a place that has a listing of the complete makeup of a stern drive system from engine to lower unit and everything inbetween.

I know some will suggest just scrapping the boat and picking one up at a decent price but this is a project boat for me. I'm sure others will understand. Thanks for any and all help.

Find out what drive system it used (Mercruiser or Volvo are the popular ones) and pickup a Seloc or OEM service manual. It will lists all the components, and specs for the system used in that boat.

Re: Need Help on Inboard/Outboard parts list

I appreciate the info. From what I can tell on the dash it had an OMC outdrive or atleast that's what the tilt/trim switch indicates. I have a feelings that ebay will my best friend on the engine and such. However, perhaps you could give me a part name for the part that joins the outdrive with the engine and seals the transom. When I look at Iboats for parts I find the outdrive but nothing as far as the transom part. I will look up information on the site you provided.

Thanks

Sticking with the OMC system will make for an easy bolt in install, but most people shy away from the OMC drive due to parts availability.

If you need the whole setup, engine and outdrive, then you might want to think about converting to a Mercruiser or Volvo setup. More plentiful, parts are available, and its a newer design.

Post on the outdrive forums, those guys can give you the best advice.

That's what I was hoping was that I'd be able to repower as I desire. From what I found on the iboats boat info the max HP for the boat was 175. It is a Sea Sprite 195BR 19foot open bow. I guess I'll direct my question about the bell housing fitting the current hole in the transom to the outdrive forum.

Ayuh,... I believe that by 1995,... They're All the Same......

Piecemealing it together is going to sound Cheap at 1st,...
By the time you're done,...
It'll cost Twice as much as buying a Donor boat,+ stripping it for it's driveline....

There is also the option of using a outboard motor bracket and mout one or two outboard motors on the back.

Do a search in this forum on "bracket" and you should find a few posts about it. Very interesting option if you like outboards better than I/O.

Mark42, That is a very unique idea. I've never seen anything like that done, but I have checked out some websites on the "Gil Brackets" and really like what they do for the boat. Considering the cost that I may incur trying to install a complete I/O system, I could spend as much on repowering with the bracket and outboard. Plus I'd regain valuable space on the boat.

thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly keep it in mind.

Ayuh,...

You'll also end up with a boat that handles like $h!t,....

I've seen this done to a 1/2 dozen hulls,...
Only to be Junked in a season or less,...
Generally, it shifts the CG too far aft,+ ruins the hulls handling.....

You can find exploded picture parts list @ bestboat parts.com. However I ordered come parts from them 1/15/09. They will no reply to any inquiry, guess they are out of business. Can get exploded list at Ishopmarine.com. I got hard to find parts I needed cheeper @ marineengine.com. (OMC parts) You probably find used engine/drive packages on line.
