Need Help On Stripe Removal

I have a 21 year old Searay that has a 2" multi-color stripe running down both sides of the boat. It is sun faded and checked. I cannot get it off. I have tried the eraser wheel and all it does is smear it, and a razor blade that justs digs in and pops off gelcoat no matter how hard I try to keep it flush. Any suggestions?

I've used hot air gun / the wifes hair dryer with a plastic putty knife comes off good with no marks but gotta get it pretty hot. Good luck-

That's right Heat gun and start pickin! On a 21 year old boat that stripe is going to be burnt right into the gelcoat. Meaning the gel under the stripe will be non-faded.
