Need help with 1987 Merc 60hp

Motor runs, but won't idle down and sounds like it has a slight miss fire.<br />Installed a new stator and CDI unit. Removed carburetors and cleaned jets with carb cleaner. Any ideas on what the problem is would be appreciated.<br />Thanks, <br /><br />Chuck

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Are both throttle butterflies fully closing? Sounds like one might be hanging open a bit. Those have holes in them to keep a specific amount of air/fuel going in at idle. Idle speed is actually adjusted by changing the timing.
