Hi, I got this motor with the boat.
It is 1996 9.9HP 4-stroke Mercury , SN# 0H004746.
It starts instantly runs for 10 -30 secs (sometime longer)and stops.
I tried 2 different gas tanks and hoses.
Replaced fuel line to fuel pump that looked "spongy".
Tested with disconnected fuel line from carb, fuel was pumped well.
Took off the carb and cleaned it and blew air from compressor.
Adjusted float by repair manual instructions.
Put new spark plugs.
Tried to play with idle screw and pilot screw on carb adding RPMs.
No help.
One thing I noticed when took carb off: little elbow piece to connect fuel line comes out of carb (see pics). It does not have thread , just sits there tight. It does not feel normal. Is not it supposed to sit in , so it does not take any air sucked? Can it be the reason?
It almost looks like something shuts the engine off, but nothing in the manual like that.
Any idea?
