Need help with 56 Evi lark 30hp throttle prob.

Model # 25526 Having trouble with the throttle on the engine and the throttle cable itself. Seems to be stiff on the engine without cable connected even. Cable coming loose from the screws on the mount for throttle inside of gear box at driving area. I beleive that the cable has been broke a few times there, now it will not allow me to "Open" the motor up all the way for full speed because the cable is to short. Do I neccesarily have to have a specific cable for that motor or will any cable do? Would it be best i get new throttle and gear shifter, cable is rusted on outside on both. Will get pics if possible. If a must, let me know. Thanks, BOCK

Clean and lube the throttle linkage on the motor...sounds like a new cable is in order...I forget the number designation for the older motors, but they aren't expensive.

Funny. I cannot for the love of all that is holy and pure find the right throttle cable for this thing!!! I am going to have to post pictures up for u guys to see it and let me know where to find one. I-boats does not have it, Evinrude does not have it... I think it has been modified by previous owner and its hard to tell what I need will get those pics asap!
