Need Help With 94/ 90 Hp !!

The mechanic here says he thinks that the engine is suffering from "blow by" but doesn't have time to evaluate for several months..... anyone else had this problem? Are we looking at needing a re-build?????

Is the engine back firing through the exhaust or throught the carburetor?

Okay, so I'm an idiot, but not really sure. It is a "bang" when it backfires, not a "sneeze".... does that help?

(Ignition troubleshooting)
(Engine backfires through exhaust)
Check the spark plugs to see if there's a crack in the white porcelin part of the sparkplug. May have struck one of the sparkplugs removing the motor cover or while putting the cover back on.
Improper timing.
Check for crossed sparkplug wires.

Improper Ignition timing


(Fuel sytem troubleshooting)
( Engine backfires)
Poor quality fuel.
Air/fuel mixture too rich or too lean.

What was the actual proplem?
