Need Help with Fixing Cracks & Painting Deck Of The Cockpit ?

I have a 1989 Albemarle 24 Express that has a brown colored deck in the cockpit area. There are some cracks in the deck area in front of the engine box. I would like to fill them in and paint the deck plus the top of the engine box to match. Would you use marine-tex to fill the cracks ? They are not very wide. How would you prep the deck and would you roll on the paint or brush it on ? Which brand paint would be the best for this job. The deck has a type on non skid on it.

What is the deck now? Fiberglass? Please explain the cracking. Possibly a few photos would be good.

I would be concerned on WHY it cracked....... is there a possible problem below deck?

Durabak or a good enamel with non slip additive might work.

Here are some pics of the deck area that is cracked. It seems to be just in the center of the cockpit area above the fuel tank. The deck seems extremely solid. No softness or movement even when I jump on it. Deck looks like fiberglass with wood underneath. Feeling in the inspection hole under the deck the wood feels solid and dry.
I would like to fill in the cracks and paint the whole cockpit area and top of the engine box the same color.
I will change the inspection covers at the same time. Go to an 8" from a 6". A beige or light tan would look good.

Ayuh,... Them's some pretty danm BIG cracks....
Please resize your pics to 640x480,... Then edit the smaller 1s to your post...
You'll get more responses...

It appears that you have some serious grinding,+ filling,+ fairing to do...
Some of them look like raised edges,... Are they,..??

The imprinted pattern will be lost,... No gettin' around that...

When you pull a hatch, can you see the edge of the deck,..??
Is it end-grain cored, or plywood cored,..??
