I'm having trouble finding parts for my Mercury motor the s/n I found is 3880507 every site says invalid s/n

To try and help you out better, we're going to need some additional information from you if possible. Things like, what is the known engine horsepower, how many cylinders, what color is the engine stickers and outboard cowling, and how sure are you that 3880507 is the correct serial number? If the number truly starts off with a 388 then that appears to be a mid 70s engine model.
Where/what location on the engine were you able to find that number?
