Standard socket/wobble joint/extension works fine for me.
and are you talking about the #1 cylinder (closest to the bow) or #4 (stern)?I'll give this a shot, also... Thought about trying this, but my u-joint socket was broken...so I'll be buying a new one.

when i did my rebuild this winter the number 1 and 2 spark plugs where easy to get out it was the number 3 and 4 that where hard to get out because of the riserand are you talking about the #1 cylinder (closest to the bow) or #4 (stern)?

yes front of motor what's confusing to every body the number 1 & 2 plugs are behing the exhaust manifold very easy to remove, the number 3 & 4 are behing the riser and exhaust manifold that's why there difficult to get out here is a picture the red arrows point to plugs you can see the where the riser is in the way of #3 and #4plugsI'm not near my manual, but is the No.1 not the cylinder closest to the bow?
