The last time I fished, I flushed with the factory flush hose. Well yesturday I forgot to check the flush plug. After leaving the dock I got a overheat horn (guage went to 200).
I have done this one other time. I think I will start flushing with a LU "ears". I guess I'm not smart enough to replace the flush plug, when I'm done flushing.

Pulled the pump cover and 10 of 12 vanes gone.
Where do I need to look for these to end up.?
What % do you think might have made it all the way out?

Thanks for any help

Did you replace the flush plug and run the boat back to the dock? Or have it towed in?

If it wasn't run after you replaced the plug, with no water to push the chewed off impeller vanes along, they should be in the hoses right near the pump. If you did run it after you replaced the plug, I would pull the t-stat housing and look in there.

Yes I did run it very briefly, just long enough to see it wasn't pumping.
Two pieses of vanes fell out of the hoses to the pump.

Thanks for replying

OK, so I removed the thermostat housing, and saw no impeller parts.
There were 3-4 very small pieces that came out of the pump hoses.
If I'm not wrong, the system allowes water to flow to the ex manifolds all the time.
Would the manifolds get clogged with these pieces? If so what would be the outcome?

I guess if I'm lucky, all the pieces are like I've seen and passed out the exhaust.

Re: Need help with water pump issue.

There are a couple of small bypass ports in the thermostat housing, well hidden and not straight enough for an electrical screw driver to pass through. Use a length of bendable wire to check these for debris. Mine where blocked with the remains of the impeller vanes and caused the engine to run cold for 5 seasons! A member here suggested I check them and that cured my problem.
