One problem is that most parts diagrams don't go past 74 so finding the right parts can be tricky??
Contact Franz Marine or Master Tech Marine for older parts.
Do a pressure test before you buy parts for the lower.
It might just be a bad drain plug seal??

Pics of the choke? It might just need a shot of WD
Also if the key actuates the choke, a shot of WD in the switch might help.

Ok so got the boat out on the water. 14 ft fiberglass crestliner and it only would go 11 knots . It idles fine revs up decent but I feel like it should have way more top end . What should I look into to make this thing as fast as it should go. I don't have a tach hooked up so I don't know what the rpm is . I looked at the prop other than being banged up a bit the bushing inside looks decent. Could this be a timing issue . What should the timing advance be on this boat. What else should I check to make this old thing faster

Does the motor rev up and just not move the boat?
That would be the prop's hub slipping.

They have a "boat repair and restorations" section.
Try there?
The mods don't like it when you ask questions on another's thread.

So I bought a new coil and it already got to hot and blew the casing of the coil. The one I bought was off eBay and 90 bucks . Resistance was 3.0 ohm primary and 8k secondary. So going off what nordin told me I bought a automotive coil that I am going to install . It says it has no internal resister and it has 1.5 ohms ohms primary resistance. After reading the internet I am concerned with running this coil. Everyone says that a 1.5 ohm coil running 12v will burn my coil and points . I don't want to ruin my points . Anyone want to chime in what I should do here?

I'm not sure but most points/condensors blow when the voltage is past 9v???
I know the coil with the internal resistor drops the voltage down to 9v.
