Need Renken info!!

Hello, Gents!

I'm new to the forum, just bought my first boat. I need to find some info about it, and don't know where to turn.

Here's what little I do know:

• 
  1985 Renken, Model 2100
  19' bowrider
  2.5L 4cyl. inboard engine

Is there anywhere I can obtain a reprint of the original manual(s)? I don't even know the make of the engine or the outdrive. If anyone has any leads for finding information on this boat, I'd sure be appreciative. Or any other must-read books you would recommend to a novice boater!

i am new to the forum as of last week and let me tell ya man you will get all the help you need here.this forum rocks and they will lead you in the right direction! good luck and welcome.my first advice would be to get some pics of the engine and outdrive posted up so they can check it out.

Welcome to iboats. Many boat manufacturers didn't print owners manuals and the ones that did typically only included generic information like tips for safe boating and things like that. So I wouldn't bother trying to find a manual for the boat. However, an OEM service manual for your specific motor/drive is invaluable. Put a post up in the I/O repair forum with as much info (and maybe some pictures) as you can about your motor and drive and they can tell you what you have and hopefully where to find a manual.

Thanks guys, good advice. And you're right, what I really need are manuals for the engine and outdrive. I'll inspect them for any identifying marks and post some pics.

What color is the drive? It may be a start....

The SN's for the engine and the drive would be the best thing to provide, but some pictures will probably do just as well on a mid 80's setup.

Look over in the Mercruiser, OMC, I/O forum. The stickys at the top, "Adults Only" have a whole slew of manuals and probably what you are looking for. FYI, some of the files are pretty big and might take a long time to down load.

Could be a Mercruiser too. I looked at a mid 80's Renken 19' bow rider and it had a 165HP Mercruiser in it. I liked the lines of the boat, but not the cracked engine block...

a 470 is bad enough, but a cracked one. Glad you had sense enough to walk away.
