First, thank you for reading and offering advice.
I have twin Yamaha 130's, 1998 model.
This issue happens like clockwork now: Crank the engines and they both sound and run fine(little exhaust coming out of the exhaust holes on motor in question). Leave the dock and throttle up to full throttle and within about 500-1000 yards the starboard engine chugs and powers down briefly then cuts off. Crank it back up and is runs rough and clunks and will no longer get enough power to plane off. Also, if you pull the throttle back before it does this on it's own you will get the same end result. Leave it on the dock for a day or so and it will repeat the same again. It is peeing, no alarms and fuel bulb is rock hard always, replaced the fuel water seperator and look a close look at fuel adn no water is present.
I dont want to get taken advantage of at the dealer so I was looking for advice.
Thanks

sounds like dirty carbs or bad fuel pumps. carbs ever been cleaned? drain float chambers?

WEll the verdict is in:
Tested the compression this morning:
REsults were: 135,125,130,0.

If anyone has a 98 130 Yamaha counter rotating engine to get get rid of, let me know.

as far as the powerhead goes you dont need a counter rotating. both heads are the same.
if you elect to repair it you MUST find the cause of the failure or a repeat is near.

OK, I am not new to boating as I have only bought brand new boats and engines. This was my first used boat and I am regretting it right now. So, what are the potential causes for losing one cylinder?

Re: Need serious help with yamaha

on your issue the description sounds like a fuel lean out that smoked a piston.
usually a clogged carb.
keep trying to run with a bad fuel system and piston failure is the result.
overheat will do the same thing.
but reman powerheads are avalible here on iboats and if saltwater corrosion isssues dont bite its not a difficult process to change it.
