I have a wellcraft boat, I noticed a soft spot in the floor and decided to investigate. I eventually took up all the fiberglass on the deck to get to the plywood. After all was said and done i need to replace the floor. The stringers are in good shape. So my question is, I have heard of encapsulating the wood. If i put resin on bottom and fiberglass on top, can i use regular 3/4" plywood? Or do i need to use treated? Or instead of encapsulating the wood can i put an oil base primer/sealer on the bottom and lay fiberlgass on top? I've searched a couple forums but i can find out these exact answers. Thanks in advance for the help

You can't use poly resin without fiberglass, but you can use epoxy resin alone. Don't use treated plywood unless it is kiln dried and they don't sell kiln dried PT at regular lumber yards or HD. PT lumber has too much moisture in it for the resin to penetrate and bond.

You can use 3/4" plywood for a good solid build.

All sound adivce so far....only question I have is the 3/4" for the deck? That's a bit heavy duty, most are 1/2", was yours 3/4" to start with?

Yes the wood I took up was 3/4. So u all are saying, I can use regular 3/4 ply as long as i epoxy resin the bottom and glass the top correct? Next question is what the best way to cut this fiberglass where it turns up and starts going up the sides?
