I have a 40hp johnson 1981 that scored the bottom cyl.Will a power head off of a 1981 60hp interchange with my 40?

No johnson 40 in 1981, look up your powerheads and motor models at shop2.evinrude.com and compare the 2.

If your sure of the 60 hp year answer is no as crankshaft spline and flywheels a different. the 1981 60hp head will fit: 1978-1983 50-55-60hp engines. The 40 hp heads that interchange with yours are: 1983-1991 40-48-50 hp engines.

The 60hp I bought is mod.J60elcia sr#J5467976.IF the power head wont work can I swap out the power trim/tilt from the forty to the sixty?Thanks a bunch.

Not sure if I responded correctly: My 60 is a mod#J60ELCIA SR#J5467976.Checked the year on the 40 and its an 83.Now can I swap the power tilt/trim from the forty to the sixty?
