Need to glass the inside of the hull.

New to me boat. The builder is out of business. Delco Fiberglass Products from what I have found is not around anymore. Mine is an Infinity 161XL. The boat was so heavy that two of us could not lift it off the trailer hitch. A 16ft boat and we cant lift it?? Drilled 1 1/2" hole in floor and all I saw was water. I cut the flooring out of the boat and removed all the soggy foam, mud, and water. I drilled a hole in the bilge pump box so the water will now drain to the bilge, the stringer was not rotted and is still solid. The owner kept it in the garage until two years ago and then set it out side uncovered. I can see thin spots in the hull where light is seen thru the hull and I want to add a new layer of glass over the existing glass. The previous owner all so drilled 4 holes thru the bottom of the boat installing new seats. What is a good glass to use to glass over the existing glass after I use the correct cleaner for the old glass? Thanks, Tex.

Uhmmm, All the water and foam, and the Stringers are good??? What did you do to make sure they were good? Did you drill core samples? How about the transom? Did you core sample it? Fiberglass is translucent. Perfectly good 1/4" thick factory fresh fiberglass will show light right through it if it doesn't have gelcoat or paint on it. Like KC says, post up some pics so we can see what your working with and we can see what you're working with and give the appropriate advice.

I found away to get the pictures. This the bottom with the floor removed. I did not have much foam in the bottom only two pieces that looked like 2x4's laying in the bottom and when I picked them up they were so wet they broke into short pieces.

I am going to buy some type of foam and mix it up an pour it in the bottom to fill in the dead spots. I am going to build wooden blocks to block off both ends of the area I putting the foam and glass the ends to the bottom of the boat and then put a 1/2" marine grade plywood over the area and the glass the whole thing in and make it air and water tight. When I get the seats I am going to build a box for them to sit on and glass this to the bottom of the boat rather that screw into my water tight sealed floor. I am looking at a glass weaved cloth to cover the entire floor and go up the inside of the boat walls. Know of any negative with ? Thanks Tex.
