Need to know the year of my Johnson 60hp Super Sea Horse

I have bought a 1960-66 Silverline. It came with a 60hp johnson Super Sea Horse motor. I believe the serial number is 311156. Can anyone help me find the year of this so I can mabe get a manual or parts for it?

Look for a model number on a plate near the transom mount. We aren't able to determine the year from a serial number.

If it is a V-4 engine, they were made 1964-67, starting with model VX-10 and going up a number each year. There was also the VXH-10-up which had a large gearcase.

If it is a 3 cylinder engine, they were made 1970-71. Models 60ESL70 and 60ESL71. Omit the L if it is short shaft.

The V-4 60hp motors were all almost identical, and likewise the 3cyl's were alike.

Thanks so far. I believe its a 4-cylinder. This is frustrating because there was no number on the Hull or the transom plate. That number I gave was from inside the caseing of the motor. I think I have a 1964-66 silverline (fiberglass). I know the motor is a 60hp super sea horse. Just not sure of the year. Any suggestions?

Look at the freeze plug on the starboard side of the engine - should have the model number on it.
