need to replace gimbal housing, questions

I have found a gimbal housing to replace my broken one. It is from a 2000 model Alpha One Gen II. From looking at it, it looks fatter in its width. All else looks the same.
Was wondering if anyone could say whether or not this will interchange with my 96 model? Just wanting to be sure before I lay down the money.

Just looks wider than the one I have.
