A stuck neutral button seem to be a prevalent problem with Quicksilver throttle controllers. I've read many of the posts regarding stuck neutral buttons but have not found a step-by-step how-to. I have the repair kit but no instructions. I've read, here, that there is a manual available. I asked the supplier of the kit about instructions and he said there were none, or he didn't have one.

My boat is a 1986 4Winns with a 115 hp Mercury outboard which I assume is the same year model.

The kit I have is part# 817253A 1. It's called a "shaft asy-throttl." Does anybody know whether this is the correct kit? It contains four pieces. Before receiving the kit I had the throttle assembly opened up but when I got to the plate over the actual moving parts, I could not get it off though I had removed the three screws holding the plate. Any ideas?

Where can I get a diagram and instructions for repairing the neutral button?

The only diagrams and instructions I know of are in the Merc service manual on remote controls.
Have your Merc dealer order you manual #90-814705R03

Thanks for the info. I checked it out on the Mercury Marine web site and that sucker costs $71. That's too rich for me. I'll check with a "local" merc dealer. I live in the boonies so there is no convenient dealer.
