Neutral Over speed Fault Code ?

We have a 2005 265 SSI with a Mercruiser 496 Mag and were out cruising at 3200rpm like we do every weekend in the summer and the engine guardian cut the power and beeped once.

I immediately put it in neutral and connected the DDT and it showed "Neutral Overspeed" in fault history, but it was not active.

I reset it and it was fine the rest of that day and the next 8 weekends after that.
Haven't had it out yet this year.

Any Ideas ?

Its the In gear safety switch and its on the shift plate. If switch is disconnected it will always think its in gear and never show the code again. Otherwise the switch needs to be adjusted and/or replaced to keep it from happening again

Is it safe to assume that when looking at the motor the shift plate is on the top left back side of the engine ?
I would post a picture, but won't be near the boat until this weekend.
