I have a 1984 Bass Tracker with the 50 HP Mercury and a Quicksilver Throttle (no trim built in) and the throttle button to put it in neutral for cold starts will not work. The button will not push in at all. I have not taken it apart yet, but was wondering as to what the problem may be.

Also, the boat seems to have trouble idling in the water. It idles fine out of the water, I can hook it up to the hose, let it run for about 1 minuite, and it will idle fine, but in the water, it just wants to cut off... Any ideas?

Re: Neutral Throttle Button Problem

84 model , may have the "pusher pin" worn in the throttle. (five pieces all together)
The control is not a easy thing to put back together..ie..springs and steel balls ( detent ball)..s
If you are mechanical ..go for it ..if not look for a replacement ..
as to idling .when in the water two things are different ..temperature, and exhaust back pressure ..
set your idle speed in the water..
