You do know the BEST way to look over a Starcraft boat is to count the rivets while you are inspecting it!! :)

I have to tell you........ once you go aluminum.....you might never go back!

For $350 I wouldn't be real concerned about the electric shift motor. If it runs or can be made to run with some basic tune up parts, go for it. Just don't throw a bunch of money at it. That boat should move great with a 50. Cut up that silly glasser of yours and get over here to the tin side.

There are no rules in the iboats or Starmada bylaws that state you must keep the motor that comes with the boat you buy, and yes I checked.

Thank goodness for that good news...can I get rid of my beater Merc now?

WnG...good luck and let us know how many knee braces are up against the transom. If it's three then it's a Nassau I believe, and three knee braces are better than one:)

Go for it, at that price you can't lose. A hole in a tin boat? Never had that problem! I've seen a lot more holes in glassers.

Ok, Wood, what's the verdict? Are you going to tinny land or not?

Tommorow was yeaterday!

We need photos!

I think Wood got the boat, bought some new gas, replaced the plugs on the 50hp and is enjoying a nice cruise in his new metal boat:)

BTW...I checked with Bob...your new iboats handle is available, WoodonTin;)

Well, it's still WoodonGlass, I had a LOT of work issues and family issues the last couple of days so it took a bit longer to go take a look at her. BUT when I did I discovered that...Tin Boats just DON"T appeal to me. I have NO idea how to work on them. And I did NOT want another Electric Motor, So I decided to to concentrate on finishing My Flamingo and then in the fall starting my Wood Boat project. Sorry all You Tinny's you'll just have to do with out me:p

from woodie to glassie to tinny.......E-GADS ! we lost another glasser :D

im doing a thundercraft right now that had UMHV or whaterver it is added to the hull for extra protection.....the darn thing has holes all over in it......yep.....squirting, double bilge pump type holes.

and who gets to fix the darn thing.......oops ...that who !
had it to the welder 6 times now and he keeps burning thru the hull !.....so i glass/epoxied it and shot rock gaurd over the inside....now im going to foam the sucker.....lets see it leak now !

HOWEVER......that darn thing runs like a sprint car.
the seats in the thing are worth 2k a pop.
45 mph gps sidways when you crank the wheel ! WAHOO ! what a rush.

but woodie......watch out......there will be no itch.....no grind.....no wood stringers...all the thing you love about boats will be gone.......nothing left to do but nurse your Multliple Boat Syndorme (MBS)

does woodie go tinny ???? tune in tommorow iboaters ......same bat time......same bat channel

Post 34 says no tin for wood....darn.

Wood, now not knowing how to work on them isn't much of an excuse....there is this forum called iboats.com that can help you with any problem you run into, and electric shifts are better in pairs.
