I agree with msm427 on the bayliners changing. but to knoxes "issues" shift linkage could be an adjustment or binding cable. (old cable?) should be addressed, as for shuting down your motor to enter the boat, all models approved y Coast Guard are required to have this label. Steering tracking should be looked at in all models, loading your boat effects this the most. If it sit's level, it will most likely track straighter. Blower operation should be checked by opening the motor compartment every time you enter your boat. Knoxes has very good points to look at in any runabout models. All these things can be effected.
